Terms & Conditions

These terms set out what this website is, what our assistance covers, what it does not cover, and what each of us is responsible for. Please read them before engaging our service.

Last updated: 23 August 2026 Applies to birthcertificatenamechange.com
The short version

We are an independent assistance service, not a government body. We help you identify the right process, prepare documents and file correctly. We cannot approve applications, guarantee an outcome, or commit to a timeline — those rest with the authority. Our fee is quoted in writing before any work starts and is separate from official fees.

1. Accepting these terms

By using this website, submitting an enquiry, or engaging our assistance, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised, and the version published here at the time you engage us is the one that applies.

2. We are not a government service

birthcertificatenamechange.com is a privately operated document-assistance service. We are not a government department, a government portal, or an agent of any registrar, municipal body or state authority.

Every step we assist with can be completed by you directly with the authority, at official fees.
We have no relationship with any decision-maker and cannot expedite or influence an application.
Nothing on this site should be read as an official notification, ruling or government communication.

3. What our service covers

Where you engage us, our assistance is limited to the following.

Case assessment

A view on whether your matter is likely to be treated as a record correction or a legal name change.

Document guidance

A checklist of what the relevant authority commonly asks for in cases like yours.

Application preparation

Help completing forms, framing affidavit wording, and arranging publication where that step applies.

Follow-up support

Guidance on tracking your file, responding to queries, and refiling where an application is returned.

4. What our service does not cover

We do not guarantee that any application will be approved.
We do not commit to a processing time — that rests with the authority.
We do not provide legal representation or act as your advocate before any court or tribunal.
We cannot override a registrar's decision or shorten a statutory step.
We do not assist with any request intended to misrepresent identity or mislead an authority.

5. Your responsibilities

Our guidance is only as good as the information it is based on. By engaging us you confirm the following.

1
The information you give is true Details and documents you provide are accurate, complete and genuinely yours to submit.
2
You are entitled to make the application You are the record holder, or the parent or legal guardian of a minor whose record it is.
3
You respond in reasonable time Delays in providing documents or replying to the authority's queries may stall or close your file.
4
You keep your originals Send scanned copies only. Do not post original documents to us; we do not accept responsibility for originals sent by post.

6. Fees and payment

There are two separate kinds of cost in any case, and we keep them clearly apart.

Government / official fees

Set by the registrar, state authority, notary, publication or Gazette office and payable to them. We do not mark these up, and we do not estimate figures we cannot confirm.

Professional service fees

Our own charge for guidance, preparation and follow-up. Quoted to you in writing before any work begins, and not changed midway without your agreement.

Our fee is payable in advance unless we agree otherwise in writing. If the scope of your case changes materially — for example a correction turns out to require the full name change route — we will re-quote before continuing.

7. Refunds

Before we begin work on your case Full refund of our fee
After work has started, before filing Partial, for work not yet done
After the application has been filed Our fee is not refundable
Government, notary and publication fees Not refundable by us

A rejected or delayed application is not itself a ground for refund of our fee, because the decision is not ours to make. Where an application is returned due to an error on our part, we will correct and refile it at no additional professional charge.

8. Accuracy of information on this website

Guides, fee ranges, timelines and state-wise notes on this site are general information, not legal advice and not a government decision. Requirements vary by the nature of the correction, the state and the local authority, and portals and procedures change over time.

Cost and duration figures shown anywhere on this site are indicative, for planning only. Please confirm current requirements with the relevant authority before relying on them.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with our service is limited to the professional fee you have paid us for the case in question.

We are not liable for a decision made by any authority, for delays in government processing, for changes in law or procedure, or for consequences arising from information you provided that turned out to be inaccurate or incomplete.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Intellectual property

The content, guides, layout and branding on this website belong to us. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own use. Republishing our written guides commercially, or copying them onto another website, is not permitted without our written consent.

Documents you send remain yours. We claim no ownership over them and use them only as described in our privacy policy.

11. Ending the engagement

You may stop using our service at any time; the refund position above will apply. We may decline or end an engagement where the information provided appears inaccurate, where the request would involve misrepresenting identity, where required documents are not supplied within a reasonable period, or where conduct towards our team is abusive.

If we end an engagement for a reason other than the above, we will refund the portion of our fee relating to work not yet carried out.

12. Governing law and how to contact us

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from our service.
